The "non-profit safety net" is
becoming far more integrated with public and commercial
sources of care. Part of the reason why is the failure
of our system to adequately address community health
and healthcare. The rising tide of uninsured and other
factors is leading to a fundamental change in direction.
One area of promise is in fact, tapping into the myriad
faith-based networks that individuals and families often
rely on as a last resort. Yet as the ranks of America's
45 million uninsured seek this charitable venue, even
these community resources are being tested. As this occurs,
cooperation among charitable organizations is mandatory.
This involves isolating services duplication, better
use of technology and greater cooperation with public
and commercial institutions.
All sides of the spectrum for helping people in need
must come to the table. And this is what CCN attempts
to do. Without leaning on non-profit or government funding,
CCN attempts to engage "corporates" (financial
institutions, others) to solve this dilemma. CCN embeds
technology that supports greater community coordination
and focus on health challenges. This includes supporting
eligibility inquiries, initiating referrals and supporting
funds transfers.
Finally, the Internet TV component - SHARENET.TV - is
being designed to strengthen community programs by providing
a venue for more effective marketing; using a non-biased
charity news programming format.
