About Us
How
it works
CCN
operates “Virtual Charitable Communities” (VCCs) that
are initially sponsored by a bank. A VCC is "activated"
after reaching an operating fund requirement that
is sensitive to area. Generally, the budget is fixed
based on the number of congregations within any given
geography (i.e., $100/year/congregration).
For
example, the Nashville, TN VCC requires a total operating
budget of $263,000 for CY2005 and CY2006. This is
derived by multiplying the number of congregations
in Nashville by $100 and then multiplying that number
by two. This provides a 2-year "get up and go"
budget.
Inactive
and Active VCCs
The
contributions of multiple national, regional and local
sponsors are combined to reach the goal of a VCC.
Until a VCC reaches its operating fund requirement,
it remains inactive. No focused marketing effort is
organized to enroll congregations that offer services,
perfect charity information and mobilize community
leaders. We maintain a minimum level of support for
all inactive VCCs, seeding them in various ways, until
momentum is developed for helping the VCC to fully
fund.
Use
of Funds
Funds
that we collect are not used for charity.
We urge those who want to give to a charity to use
our CCN Search function to locate a charity. The
funds we collect are used to implement and perfect
a VCC. This requires administrative support, IT support
and maintenance, marketing, formation of a circle
of community volunteers to get the word out, active
telemarketing to congregations in the VCC and implementation
of links in high-traffic websites that direct people-in-need
to our quick search service.
An
active VCC benefits from targeted resources that perfect,
maintain and enroll charity services. Our programs
foster community interaction and help researchers
to understand community-by-community dynamics to assist the un/under-insured population. Active VCCs are inter-connected to increase efficiency during times of community need. While giving naturally occurs during times of crisis (i.e., 9/11), CCN provides an organized and integrated program – with both Internet and TV-based components (planned) – that substantivelyoptimizes access to funds for people in need.
In addition to community logistics, CCN supports an internet broadcasting operation. We actively tape and edit tapes related to charitable events in any given VCC. These are broadcast through the CCN channel. A syndicated program is being developed for other internet channels, radio and TV stations in North America, Europe and Asia. The more actively marketed the CCN resource, the more useful it will become to the communities we serve.
Individual contributions. Please note that CCN does not take individual contributions. We encourage individuals to locate a charity, foundation, congregation or other organization using our national search resource. Over 200,000 charities are loaded and new congregation-based services are being added every day.
Organizational Enrollment. If you are an organization, you can enroll by creating an account. Upon validation you will be introduced to MyCNN, your home page that provides tools to save searches, view CCN annnouncements, learn about new community programs and sponsorships and other services.
Sponsorship. To apply for sponsorship of a Virtual Charitable Community, you must be a legally chartered bank. We encourage you to ascertain cost using our VCC Calculator. Interested parties may contact us at: ccn@mbproject.org. Thank you for visiting our site!
